DivotsWhich is the most exclusive golf club in the world?
Exclusivity is not easily measured. That said, you would need to speak to a lot of people before finding one who didn't think the answer to the question was Augusta National. Only 300 or so members (plus past winners of the Masters) can wear the Green jacket that is synonymous with the club. The membership is made up mostly of industrial billionaires who have been invited to join - no one fills out an application form to join Augusta. And green fees are strickly something offered by other courses, so don't bother saving up. If you don't have an invite, you're not getting in.
Of course, many other clubs across the world restric playing rights to members and their guests. Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles is noted for being especially difficult to join, as is Cypress Point in California. In Britain the obvious choice would be the R&A at St. Andrews, whose membership nealy always includes royals, aristocrats, statesmen, and various other high-ranking people. Other well-heeled clubs include the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers at Muirfield, Royal Troon, Loch Lomond, and Sunningdale. the Duke of York is a member at Swinley Forest, 30 miles west of London, another club with a reputation for being inaccessible for most golfers.
