DivotsDoes a warm ball travel further than a cold one?
Air temperature does affect the distance a ball flies. Warm air is less dense than cold air and offers less resistance, or drag. A ball that travels 250 yards at 10 degrees would travel roughly 260 yards at 110 degrees.
But the temperature of the ball itself has a much greater influence on how far it flies. Increase the temperature of the ball from 10 degrees to 110 degrees, and a drive that went 250 yards will now travel nearer 270 yards. That's because as the temperature of the ball rises, the rubber in the core becomes more resilient.
